He was the President & CCO of Gaymar Industries from 2000-2010 (sold to Stryker 2010). Gaymar was a Global Medical Device Company; joining in '81 to oversee its Clinical Research; promoted to Dir Med Res, VP S & Mkt, VP Ops, VP NPD, & Pres & COO.
Following graduate studies, he was awarded an NIH postdoc fellowship; then joined Gaymar Industries, Inc. to oversee clinical studies, educational offerings, and new product development.
In 1987 founded the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel; in 2003, he was the recipient of the Panel's first "Thomas Stewart Award,"; given biannually to individuals who demonstrate leadership in public policy as it relates to pressure injury care and patient advocacy.
He is a Senior Associate Clinical Professor at Daemen University and an adjunct Asst. Prof. at SUNY/Buffalo has authored over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals and a book chapter. He is an Ed. Board member and Dept Editor for Journal WOUNDS. He is a Life Time Achievement Awardee from the World Union of Wound Healing Societies.
He was a past member of the Board of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, Chair of its Life Science Industry Council, Chair of the Board of Insyte Consulting(2013-2016), and past member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the School of Engineering at SUNY at Buffalo; appointee by NY State's Governor to the Board of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute(2009-16); Chair, Daemen University Board of Trustees(2016-2019)
Over 25 years of expertise in pressure ulcer pathophysiology, wound healing, support surface design and measurement, thermal physiology, and nosocomial lesions acquired by the patients during operating room and hospital stays; expert witness in medical malpractice cases around the country. Co-inventor on 12 patents for the therapeutic control of patient temperature and/or compression therapy.
Hobbies: Black belt in Isshin Ryu Karate; guitar in the FoxChapel Classic Rock Band.
